![]() ![]() Terraforming Mars - Big, sprawling, fun theme, emergent stories spring up, multiple paths to victory, more interaction than people give it credit for, slightly too long. Mentioning only so people know it exists. I haven’t played Manhattan Project 2 but I’m sure it’s excellent. This is probably my favourite of the two. (There’s an expansion coming out for this that I think adds modules that mostly increase player interaction which is interesting.) Plays excellently at 2. They also removed all direct conflict, making it an economic euro, with really nice components and theme. Take the first game, add layers to the engine building (where you balance the creation of three different engines that help with different parts of the game and sort of want to do them all but the game reward investing in one area). The other: Manhattan Project: Energy Empire. It’s too zero-sum and (possibly because we were just bad at it) felt like it had a bad runaway leader problem at that count great at others Note: It claims to support 2 players but we’ve found it just doesn’t work for us at that count. ![]() The kind of game where you build an engine and get to run it a lot as you build it. Players must invest in fighter planes if they want to avoid bombers but this is always at expense of other stuff you want to do. You can spy on each other’s buildings (steal them for a round) or bomb the crap out of them (forcing an expensive cleanup before re-use is possible). The first one: Manhattan Project: Amazing game but definitely not for everyone as it has a lot of mean direct conflict. I’ve only played two but really like them both. Superb combination of tableau building and worker placement with really satisfying engine building. r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
